Our founder Tivon Skinner was not only a disc jockey and on air personality, but had a career as a special education teacher for 8 years.
Through his experiences he learned to address the different learning styles of his classroom community while creating a more engaging approach to the subject area of ELA. Thus, the Craft Keepers was born in a Brooklyn classroom in 2012.
Beginning as just a fun approach to helping scholars remember the writing process it lead to the creation of an afterschool dj club in 2014 at Mott Hall Bridges Academy. This club gave students access to a new world of creativity and learning.
In 2016 he also partnered with the Beacon summer program at P.S 323 to implement his program. Now he’s on a journey to manifest his dream of helping scholars gain academic enrichment through music.
